Asti, in the Piedmont region, is known as a prime growing area for Barbera because of the unique micro climate. This delicate Barbera, is most definitely in it's purest form. Taken from young vines, spontaneous fermented in cement tank, racked (natural filtering process), back in cement for 2 months, followed by large oak barrels for 8 months. Wild red fruits and herbs, spices and balanced acidity. The wine has a deep and impenetrable ruby colour.
ABOUT THE PRODUCER
TENUTA FORESTO are young vignerons from Nizza Monferrato in the heart of the UNESCO site of Piedmont region. They made their dream come true and created a place where they can grow their own grapes and make their own wine.
Thier vineyards are hand-grown and the grapes that they get are simply escorted to the cellar, without the aid of any additives. In their farm they search for a holistic approach and they maintain a holistic and low impact ecosystem.
They mainly produce Barbera, Moscato, Cortese and Chardonnay.
Their vines vary from ten to seventy years old, exposure is mostly south to south-west, with tufa (limestone) throughout, with some clay and chalk (limestone again) mixed in.
Inspiration comes from the local winemaking tradition and they experiment maceration and fermentation in bottle.
